Here’s a card that I made for my mom this last Mother’s Day. I knew she really wanted me to draw and write something independently—and for me to make it a surprise. So I did. She told me to think of how I’d spent years writing those colorful journals, and to let that inspire me. I did, but it sure was hard work—harder even than when I was little because I had to do it completely on my own energy… Unlike most times, my mom was NOT standing there next to me, making me go on and finish. It took me several sessions to get it done—I couldn’t concentrate long enough to do it all in one try. But, let me tell you, when I saw how incredibly happy my mom was about the card, I knew it was worth it.
